Surrey Wedding Flowers for Summer
Summer weddings in Surrey are remarkable and what better way to brighten up a wedding than with a collection of decorative wedding flowers. Considering which flowers to choose for your wedding is important because you can place an early order with a florist before it becomes too busy. Most weddings are in summer and florists may get too overwhelmed to deal with demand.
The advantage though is that in the summertime, virtually any type of flower is available and they include pastel yellows and blues as well as brilliant oranges and reds. If you want to get bold purple flowers, they are also in bloom.
The conventional choice of wedding flowers in summer is roses and the favored colours include red, yellow and orange which are very vibrant. Sunflowers are also very suitable and bring out the real feeling of a summer wedding.
In order to make use of the wonderful weather during summer, majority of the ceremonies held during this period are outdoors. This fact will determine the type of flowers used because some may not be able to suitably sustain the outdoor temperatures. Your florist will be able to suitably advise you on the best varieties.
There are plenty of wedding flowers to choose from and some of these include Bachelor Buttons, foxglove, moss rose, carnations, berries and daisies among others. Sometime s a combination of two varieties brings out a magnificent effect for instance if you are able to pair white lilies with green ferns, the results are remarkable.
The key to picking out good flowers is a combination of a professional florist and your personal taste. Once the two factors are in sync, the results are sure to be positive. Another important factor when choosing flowers for a wedding is to consider what mood the flowers will set so as to give the best possible effect.

Flowers For Your Wedding Day: Fresh or Silk?

For some brides, there is no question. It’s fresh flowers or no flowers at all.
But for those who might still be considering which way to go, there are definitely pros and cons for real flowers vs. silk.
SCENT
For some brides, nothing comes close to enjoying all of her senses being heightened on her wedding day, and that can include the dreamy scents wafting from her bouquet. Real flowers, of course, carry their own unique scents which isn’t the case with silk flowers. However, there are special scents available to add to silk flowers, so if you really want to go the silk route, that might be something to think about.
PRICE & QUALITY
Just because they’re imitation it doesn’t mean silk flowers will be less expensive than their real counterparts. In fact, some companies now manufacture faux flowers so realistic that it’s difficult to notice that they aren’t fresh.
Silk flowers can run the gamut from cheap and poorly made, to inexpensive with good quality, to high-price with high quality. You’re in luck if you’re able to find top-notch, lifelike silk flowers at a sale price, and some hobby stores frequently run coupons in their weekly advertisements.
If you have your heart set on out-of-season or more expensive fresh flowers, a little investigating will tell you whether you could actually save money by choosing silk. Out-of-season fresh flowers typically have the power to dramatically increase your floral bill, since it costs more for your florist have them shipped.
DIY
Taking care of some of your wedding chores on your own could possibly save you some money and if you are a do-it-yourself type of bride and plan on creating your own bouquets, you might consider using silk flowers. That way, you’ve got the luxury of time on your side. Buy your silk flowers and put the bouquets together in the weeks leading up to your wedding. Set up an area in your home so you can enjoy the challenge of creating the bouquets, boutonnières and centrepieces.
Or, if you prefer to use real flowers in your do-it-yourself bouquets, take a hint from the French. Brides in France often visit a flower market the day of the wedding, grabbing stems that they like, and then tie a bow around the stems to create bouquets with a fresh, just-picked look.
This isn’t difficult to do if there is a wholesale flower company in your area or you know of a great source to find stems. Depending on the size of your wedding party and the number of bouquets, boutonnières and centrepieces you need, it might be wise to enlist the help of your bridesmaids and borrow coolers from friends and relatives to keep the flowers as fresh as possible before the ceremony and reception.
Another option is to order flowers online from one of the reputable companies who will ship the flowers to you.
If you’re a fan of the hand-tied, casual bouquets that are so popular right now, you should be able to play with the stems until you’re satisfied with the look.
MAINTENANCE
Silk flowers won’t wilt, which is something to consider if you would like to use flowers known for being fragile, if you live in a hot climate, or if you will get married outside.
Silk flowers are a bit more convenient because they’re lighter to transport to the ceremony and to the reception site. A lighter bouquet can be a blessing if you prefer larger bouquets as the weight of a real bouquet might become uncomfortable during the ceremony, especially to your maid of honour who is holding her own bouquet and the bride’s.
Also, you won’t need to worry about keeping silk flowers in water prior to show time, which is a common concern when using real florals.
Whether you choose live or lifelike, your wedding and reception will be beautiful with the right floral touches.

The easiest way to spruce up any wedding ceremony and reception is to decorate with some beautiful flowers. The choices and combinations are limitless and depend only on your taste and the price you are willing to pay.
No matter the location or the time of year, a professional florist can get just about any type of flower you desire. Keep in mind that the least expensive options will be flowers that are in season and readily available. Having flowers shipped from halfway around the world will add to the price
considerably.
We advise meeting with a few florists before picking one for your wedding. Prices can be wildly different from one florist to another. You should also be confident in your florists knowledge. She should take her time going through the details with you rather than rushing through the process.
What kind of flowers do I need?
Needs can vary depending on the size and location of the wedding. Often the place where the ceremony is being held already has many flowers. You may just want to add a few flowers that you are particularly fond of.
Of course you’ll need to pick out a bouquet for the bride, as well as bouqets for each of the bridesmaids. Obviously the bride’s bouquet should be the biggest and most expensive. For the bridesmaids, try to pick out something that compliments their dresses.
Many florists will recommend getting two bridal bouquets. One bouquet will be for the bride to carry down the aisle. This will the most expensive bouquet, and it will be the one she keeps as a memento. The second bouquet should be less expensive and smaller. This will be the one that is thrown or given away during an anniversary dance.
The boutonniere is the floral decoration traditionally pinned to the jacket lapel of the groom, his groomsmen, and the fathers of the bride and groom. Again, the groom should wear the most expensive and ornate boutonniere. The word boutonniere comes from the French word ’bouton’ which simply means button. They got this name because they were originally worn in the button
hole of the lapel.
Most florists will recommend decorating the wedding cake with a few flowers. These can be seasonal flowers that highlight the cake and give it some color. You won’t want to overwhelm the cake, just add a few splashes of color to it.
Finally, you’ll need corsages for the mothers of the bride and groom. These are simple floral decorations worn on the wrist and usually made to match the bride’s bouquet.
