Wedding photographers in Surrey

According to a recent survey it has been estimated that Surrey County has close to 2000 photographers who specialise in weddings. This quite a great number and as a result of this it is quite difficult to find the right person for the job.  This may actually be one of the difficult steps in the wedding preparation process but it is possible to deal with this obstacle without necessarily going through so much stress. Since there are numerous people providing photography services in the area, then why is it a hassle to find the right guy?

In this case it is not just a matter of choosing a photographer but picking a person who has the passion to bring out the real mood of the ceremony. Wedding planners may not necessary hire the right person for the job but instead just go with someone who they always work with.  Getting the right candidate for the job is crucial because if the pictures taken are substandard it is not possible to rewind the ceremony again. The work should be done right the first time and there are some steps that you can take to ensure the vetting process runs smoothly.

Firstly you have to ensure that you are dealing with a professional so you need to check out portfolios as well as references.  Anyone could operate a camera and claim to be a photographer but by taking a look at a portfolio and speaking to a person, you can tell the difference between a professional and a masquerader.

Once you have made a shortlist of those you think are the best you can look at each of their styles and choose the one that would suit your theme.  Taking some time to look for the right photographer may seem like a farce but it is definitely bound to pay off in the long run.

The Right Wedding Photographer – Frequently Asked Questions

There are certain questions that need to be asked by the couple when seeking the right wedding photographer and below I have taken the liberty of highlighting these questions and giving the possible answers.

  • About how much would it cost to pay for wedding photographs? There answer will vary here and the cost will actually be dependent on the amount of photographs that you will want in your album.  Most storybook albums range between 15 and 50 pages and this may cost you between 150 and 400 pounds. Any other charges will be for services rendered on the day and this is negotiable.
  • Many photographers only take pictures until the cake cutting ceremony, is this norm?  Actually this happens a lot but it is not supposed to be the case. The photographer is usually hired for the day and should therefore be around until the wedding is generally over. Try and find a photographer who can work until the end of the ceremony.
  • About how many pictures are suitable for the album? Well this varies from individual to individual but the average range would be between 100 and 150, considering that the photographer could take anything from 200 to 500 photographs.
  • Is it possible to ask for all the photographs taken? Yes it is. However this will tend to crowd your album and also out of all the photos taken there are plenty that are not worth keeping.
  • How can I be sure that the photographer I choose is the right one? Well, you will need to first talk face to face with the person and ask the necessary questions and thereafter look at their previous work.  Looking up references is also a good way of checking up on the quality of a photographers work.
  • If the photographers work is good but we do not get along is it okay? Ideally it would be best to find a wedding photographer who is pleasant and gets along with you so as to make your big day more memorable.

There are so many wedding photographers in Surrey, how do you choose the right one for you?

Choosing the best Surrey Wedding Photographer

Considering that Surrey is one of the most preferred destinations for weddings, you need to do justice to your wedding ceremony and hire a photographer who will do a professional job. If the photographer does a shoddy job, unfortunately you will have to live with it for the rest of your life.  For this reason, there are certain guidelines that should be followed to ensure that you get the best person for the job.

• Check list – Come up with a list of the photography requirements you need for the big day
• Look around – take time to shop around for the most suitable candidates. Check out their portfolios and look up some of their past clients if possible. Do not just go for the first person you find because you may end up being very disappointed.
• Use the Net – many photographers have set up shop on the internet. It may even be easier for you to browse through several websites rather than visiting the photographers in person. Once you have shortlisted a few them you may make a physical visit to each of them.
• Interview – when you visit the shortlisted photographers you will need to ask them a number of questions regarding their work and what to expect if you were to hire their services. Try and also gauge the person’s personality because you do not want to deal with an obnoxious person on one of the most important days of your life.

There are currently many wedding photographers in Surrey so you should take your time and find the best one. Do not be afraid to ask any probing questions if you feel the need to because it is your right to do so. After you find the right person, I guess you’re all set to capture the sights and sounds of the big day.

10 Questions to Ask When Looking for a Wedding Photographer in Surrey

March 16, 2010 by

When it comes to preparing for your wedding, you are probably up to your elbows in magazines, paperwork, bills, and glitter. But even though there seems to be a never-ending list of things to do in order to be properly prepared for the big day, you have to make sure that you are not skipping certain details.

Here are 10 questions to ask when checking out wedding photographers. This is not just about making sure that you are spending your money wisely but it is also about making sure you are going to end up with photos you will be able to proudly cherish for the rest of your life.

1. Will he or she be the exact person at your wedding taking your photos?

If he or she cannot guarantee that, you will want to look somewhere else. You want to make sure you are interviewing and reviewing the work of the exact person who will be at your wedding taking photos. The last thing you want is to be surprised on the day of your wedding and end up with photos that are not worth a dime.

2. What styles does he or she specialise in?

Photos are not just photos. Every photographer out there has their own special style or way of doing things that you want to be familiar with. Do you like the photographer’s style? Is it your style? In order to be a happy bride, make sure that you are getting a photographer that is capable of taking the shots you want on your wedding day.

3. What kind or type of camera will be used for your photos?

It is important to make sure that some inexpensive 35mm camera available at any superstore is not being used. There is nothing wrong with an everyday camera for everyday photos, but your wedding is special. You want high quality photos so make sure that your photographer has the right equipment.

4. Is there a backup plan?

What happens if that camera breaks? Make sure the photographer has a back up plan such as having spare cameras on hand and an assistant who is qualified to work in his or her place should an emergency occur.

5. How large is the photo package and what is the price breakdown for each photo?

By understanding all of the pricing and what you get within each package you will be able to make an educated decision on what you should be going with. Ask questions if you don’t understand. It’s better to not be surprised when the bill and the proofs come in.

6. How long before the proofs are ready?

You will want to know how long it will take for the proofs to be finished for your review.

7. Do they automatically give the negatives or is there an extra charge for this?

Some will give you the negatives free of charge while others will not unless you ask for them and then there is an additional charge.

8. Is he or she covered by liability insurance?

In case something goes wrong or there is an accident, the photographer needs to have liability insurance to cover costs.

9. Can you request specific types of photos to be taken?

This will help to ensure that you are getting exactly what you want. If the photographer seems rigid and uptight about your input, you should look elsewhere.

10. Is there an additional cost for staying longer then scheduled?

If there is a delay or the event simply lasts longer than you expected you probably want the photographer to stay. Is he or she available to stay longer, and do they charge extra for doing so?

Your wedding photographer can be like a magician creating beautiful photos of your very special wedding. Don’t hesitate to ask questions when you’re deciding who to hire – it’s that important.

Choosing Your Honeymoon Destination

January 29, 2010 by

Emily on her wedding day

There are many factors that come into play when deciding where to go for your honeymoon.  You want to go somewhere fun and possibly exotic, but especially romantic.  You also want a destination that has activities you two like to do, whether it be scuba diving, bargain hunting, beach walking, or museum visiting. The decision has to be made whether to go somewhere near or far and usually the amount of time you can take away from work plays into this.

One other big factor is the cost of the honeymoon. If you have your heart set on going somewhere that’s farther away than the other side of town, then consider the “high season”, “low season”, and “shoulder season” of your possible destinations.

High season is the time of year when your destination is the most popular. Consequently, it’s also the time of year when the airlines and resorts can charge the most money because everyone wants to go there then.  It’s an example of supply and demand.  Think spring break time in Florida, Palm Springs or Hawaii in the winter, or many parts of Europe in the summer.  You have to carefully consider whether you want to pay bigger bucks to go to the popular destinations during high season, and if you can handle the crowds that will be there at that time.

Low season is when a location is at its cheapest price.  This is Europe in the winter or Arizona in the summer.  There is a reason why it’s less expensive at these times – people are not inclined to go there, usually because of the weather.  Also note if it’s hurricane season during low season, or if it’s the time for monsoon, high winds, etc.  Otherwise, this can really be a perfect time to go if you’re into winter sports or like really steamy heat.

Another time to consider is the shoulder season.  This is the time between high and low season with either fall or spring-like conditions.  As you might have figured out, the cost will be somewhere less than high season but more than low season, and the crowds should be in direct ratio with the season.  Europe in the spring or fall is still perfectly nice, although not necessarily tanning-in-a-bikini weather.  In fact, you may need to wear a light jacket and carry an umbrella, but at least it shouldn’t snow on you.

The bottom line is that you will be able to afford more honeymoon if you pick a destination during the less popular months.  It may be that your first choice of perfect locations is too costly.  What you can do is go with your second or third choice, or if it’s still early in the wedding planning stage, you can change the date of your wedding to a month that coincides with the best prices of your first choice for your honeymoon.

‘Be Your Best’ – Top Tips for Losing Weight Before Your Wedding

November 20, 2009 by

You’ve set the date and the countdown is on.  You are about to choose your beautiful wedding dress and you want the confidence to know that you look your best on the day.  If you have a limited amount of months or even weeks and want to see the BEST possible results, then following a carefully and individually designed fitness and weight loss program will leave you feeling energised and looking great for your big day!  The earlier you start, the more results you will see.

From fat-burning exercises to the hassle-free ‘at home’ workout, you can finally lose the extra pounds and feel your best during this special time of your life!  At last you can achieve weight loss, tone your muscles and flatten your stomach!

Going on a restrictive ‘wedding dress diet’ will leave you feeling empty and will not stand you in good shape to cope with all of the exciting preparations.  Therefore, seeking advice from a qualified nutritional advisor on how to improve your diet is also highly recommended.  Without a correct healthy eating plan and having the knowledge to know which foods to eat, it will be difficult to shift the excess.

With the right guidance, support and planning, your vision can become reality. Follow our tried and tested techniques detailed below:

1) Your bridal exercise and weight loss program should include aerobic activities (cardiovascular otherwise known as CV), resistance (strength) training and flexibility sessions. The minimum amount recommended each week is at least 40 minutes sessions, 3 x weekly, combining all elements. Despite popular belief, CV training alone will not shift the excess!

2) In order to stimulate greater fat loss, your CV sessions should be at least 60% max heart rate to make a significant difference. Intensity is key to achieving results. Investing in, and using a heart rate monitor is a great way to monitor the exact activity of your heart during your aerobic training. Alternatively, you could use a simple method called the ‘Rate of Perceived Exertion’ (RPE Scale) – you monitor how hard you feel as though you are working by listening to your body and understanding your own effort.

3) 1lb of fat is equal to 3,500 calories. You should aim to reduce your calorie intake by 500 calories each day. Here’s how:
• exercising at the right intensity
• increasing your metabolic rate with strength training
• reducing your intake of junk food and alcohol
• eating a well-balanced, unprocessed diet

4) Avoid foods that give you that ‘bloated’ feeling:
• wheat and processed grains
• simple carbohydrates and refined sugar
• foods high on the glycaemic index

5) Schedule your training session into your diary and write it down! Without planning and preparation, it’s easy to find an excuse of why not to exercise, especially during all of the busy preparations in the countdown to your wedding.  If possible, training with a friend not only gives you support, but also makes you commit to the time that you have set aside. Take a few minutes to think about the time of day that is realistic for your training; you could get out of bed 30 minutes earlier and get your exercise session out of the way before breakfast! Alternatively, if you suffer from the ‘mid-afternoon slump’, why not make this the time to get active and create energy throughout your body?

6) Exercise by doing something that you enjoy. Motivation is vital for success. This may sound simple, but if you dislike an activity, you will not continue with it! Be creative but realistic.

7) Keep your body well-hydrated throughout the day with filtered water and caffeine-free tea. Aim for between 1.5 to 2 litres each day. Water is essential for health, carries vital nutrients around the body and flushes out the nasty toxins that your body might be nurturing. Thirst is a sign of 1% dehydration!
8) There is nothing better than having a goal to work towards!  By following a carefully detailed exercise and weight loss program in preparation for your wedding, the results will be noticeable much quicker!
