A Few Unique Wedding Reception Ideas For An Unforgettable Day

February 27, 2011 by

The only thing that can make a perfect wedding ceremony even better is to plan the perfect wedding reception. And to make it a perfect wedding reception all you would need to do is make sure all your guests have the best time, that will make it a memorable occasion. But it can be a challenge making it memorable unless you can come up with some great and unique wedding reception ideas.

Even though the wedding day will be special to the bride and groom, making it memorable for everyone else will be a big step to making the day a success. Everything from the food to the decorations and even the music will be what has the biggest impact on all your guests and will leave lasting memories. Here are a few wedding receptions ideas that can help you make your big day memorable for everyone else too.

- Match the decorations to your wedding theme. If you are having a theme of Spring, you not only want to have just a few items on the tables but scatter other spring items all around the room too.

- Get disposable cameras, put your guests name on them and put them in front of each place setting. Have all the film from the cameras developed when the reception is over and have double prints made. Put one set into the bride and grooms photo collection and then send the other set to the guest that made them.

- Have personalized place cards to show where everyone will be sitting. Write a thank you to each guest for coming to your wedding on the back or inside of the card.

- Involve as many guests as possible with some activities. Getting everyone involved in the action is what makes a reception memorable.

- Make sure everyone is there when it comes time for the bride and groom to toss the bouquet and garter. It always makes for a memorable moment at any reception.

Wedding receptions have a lot to live up to when you just had a beautiful ceremony. That means you’ve got to have fun things for everyone to do during the reception. And having everyone involved, taking pictures, dancing, eating and interacting will make it a memorable occasion. While the bride and groom will remember the day for the rest of their lives, having a great reception will make it memorable for everyone else too.

Expenses can get out of hand quickly when planning a wedding and one way to cut down on cost is to find cheap place cards. PaperDirect has a large selection of place cards and invitations for any occasion, from blank to modern to themed and more.

Surrey Wedding Venues – What Does Surrey Have to Offer?

By Sagiv Djordjevic

Surrey is the perfect place for a beautiful, modern and romantic wedding. It can provide everything from the small exclusive, intimate venue up to the big stylish weddings which are much larger and grander.

Surrey hotels and country houses are all well connected with major rail and road routes into London and the South East of England. Heathrow and Gatwick airports are very close and major roads such as the A3, M3 and the M25 get your guests to the venue quickly and efficiently. Rail travellers are equally well supported due to the large number of commuters living in Surrey but working in Central London. Trains travel regularly into London Bridge and Waterloo stations.

The general quality of service in all of the wedding venues in Surrey is extremely high, with excellent cuisine, exemplary service and amazing attention to even the smallest detail. Brides (and grooms) will be spoilt for choice and their wedding guests will be impressed.

In order to see everything that Surrey has to offer you will need to visit the venue and talk to the staff, but review your budget first as there is a wide price variation between the different options. Be clear on the number of guests that will be attending and the style of catering that you will require. The clearer you can be in your list of requirements the easier it will be to make your choice.

Photography is important to every bride and Surrey provides some stunning locations for the perfect wedding photograph. Make sure that your wedding photographer is familiar with the venue that you choose so that they are able to get the most out of the location.

Spas are becoming increasingly common at the larger wedding venues in Surrey and are very popular with the brides as a place to relax in the hectic build up to the wedding, remember to ask about spa facilities when making your booking.

Some Helpful Wedding Planning Steps

February 24, 2011 by

The wedding planning process can be drawn out and complicated if approached incorrectly. When it is done in a logical and methodical way, it results in a lot less stress. By following detailed guidelines weddings are managed efficiently and turn into enjoyable and successful events.

Within nine months to a year of a wedding several things must take place. The couple should announce the engagement to family and friends and select a wedding date. By giving people plenty of notice they will make sure they can attend. The longer a couple takes to do this the less likely it is that guests can rearrange their schedules.

Coordinators can be hired to help with planning and make the process run more smoothly. With the coordinator decide the ceremony location, theme, and number of guests. Figure out if the event will be formal or casual, and during the afternoon, evening or morning.

The couple should agree on a budget and how to split the bills. Purchase a planner to keep track of all appointments. Use some method of organization to keep track of payments that are made.

Decide whether or not children are welcome. Reserve the ceremony location and any officials, priests, rabbis or ministers. Also book the location for the reception.

Bridal gowns should be tried on, picked out and ordered by this point. The further color themes for the wedding need to be picked out as well. Ensure visas, passports, and other documentation is available for travels and licensing.

At the six to nine month deadline, further preparation must be done. Florists, videographers, bands, musicians, photographers and caterers should be booked. The wedding party selection should occur and they should be informed of their roles.

Identify the flower girls and bridesmaids and choose their attire. Mothers of the bride and groom also need outfits selected. Gift registrations must be made now, if not before this point.

Four to six weeks prior to the ceremony, fit the bridesmaids gowns. Reserve rentals, book decorators, finalize the guest list and order invitations. Finalize details for the rehearsal dinner and honeymoon night.

For those guests who must travel from out of town, make arrangements so they will be properly accommodated. Purchase gifts for fiances, parents and the wedding party. Accessories for the bridesmaids and the bride should also be purchased. Select and order wedding bands.

When the ceremony is two to four months in the future, take engagement pictures and pick out a cake. Book wedding day transportation, address and send invitations, book hair and makeup appointments, and get a marriage license.

If these steps are completed, the most important details will be taken care off before the main event. All that must be done is further finalizing and picking up, wrapping and dropping off any important items. Also, notification should be made to the post office of any travel plans.

Planning A Wedding In Surrey

By Tamara Jacobs

Planning an English wedding? Why not do it in Surrey? Here’s a list of some beautiful churches, reception venues and things to do in Surrey to help get you started.

Get me to the church on time:

Surrey has some extremely beautiful churches where anyone (of Christian faith) would be lucky to get married.

The Parish Church of St James Weybridge has a sacramental window which is absolutely stunning. It is made of Victorian stained glass and depicts the sacraments of the rites of the church. The upper row has New Testament sacramental themes and then more contemporary pictures in the rows beneath.

The church of St Mary Oatlands was built in 1861 as a ‘chapel’ to serve the needs of the growing local population. It is made of stone and surrounded by beautiful greenery, including hedges and a variety of trees. Other local churches include Weybridge United Reform Church, Weybridge Methodist Church, and Christ The Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Church.

Reception:

Depending on your taste and budget, there are many wedding reception venues in Surrey to choose from. Silvermere Inn on the Lake offers gorgeous views, which is optimal for photographs of both the wedding party as well as guests. They also have an Island Marquee which can be tailored to individual requirements, drop down windows for full view of the lake, and private facilities for up to 200 guests.

Loseley Park is another attractive option. The 17th century Tithe Barn makes for a beautiful reception with views across the lawns and parkland.

Wotton House has a lot to offer any wedding, from its 20 acres of land, to stunning landscape architecture (once home to botanist John Evelyn), to a range of special houses and suites to entertain guests.

Burhill Golf Club is the perfect Surrey wedding venue. Tucked away in quiet woodlands is a Georgian Mansion that is beyond beautiful. The facilities can accommodate 104 and suites overlook the River Mole. Moreover there are extensive banqueting and wine menus to choose from.

Things to do in Surrey:

Of course, out-of-towners will want to entertain themselves between the church and reception. Thankfully there are many fun and educational things to do in Surrey, including going to visit the Hampton Court Palace, the RHS Wisley Gardens, or touring Thorpe Park. For those who feel the wedding is activity and excitement enough, Surrey is a wonderful place to go for bike rides or long walks.

So brides, grooms and in-laws to be, when planning an English wedding, consider Surrey. There are wonderful places to entertain and guests will have more than enough to do. And for the perfect ending, hire a hot air balloon to fly off and enjoy your first private married moments.

British School Of Ballooning provides Hot Air Balloon Flights throughout the south of England. Hot Air Ballooning is the perfect way to enjoy the scenery in the Home Counties. Find out more about Balloon Rides Surrey here http://www.hotair.co.uk/milford
